Ballet styles and romantic robes
Rose net-lace-dresses and a lot of silk for the perfect ballerina look
Powder, Plissés and Pirouettes
“Dance is the hidden language of the soul” (Martha Graham). A language a little more frequently observable, however, is fashion. Whatever we feel like, is expressed in our outfits. So why not combine the two? We all dreamt of being princesses and ballerinas when we were little. And in most of us that dream secretly is still alive. Especially after “The Black Swan” Natalie Portman made “being fragile, pale and unbelievable elegant” fashionable again. We have been getting used to wearing bodies, legwarmers and ballerinas. Now, we try to take it to the next level: The highly obvious imitation of a ballerina. Delicate, feathery dresses combined with rose bags and light ballerina shoes make us almost float over the ground.
We all know that fashion and dance are a source of inspiration for each other. Designers have been inspired by ballet, by its elegance and lightness, transferring this feeling into their designs. Most recent examples would be Chloés summer 2011 collection. Her designs have been heavily inspired by ballet. She even displayed them in a video, having two ballet dancers dance in her clothes. A return of fashion to its origin of art. On the other hand, a lot of designers have also created actual costumes for ballet dancers on stage. Not only Coco Chanel designed costumes for “Le Train Bleu” in 1924, but also Giorgio
Armani,
Karl Lagerfeld and Donatella
Versace gave their creativity to this genre. Now, ballet is celebrating a big revival in the fashion industry again. No wonder, considering the overflow of (fluorescent) colours or black rocker-girls on our streets. With so much toughness and aggressiveness going on in fashion we long for a little harmony, femaleness and decent chic. The embodiment of elegance is this nude-coloured silk-crepe dress by
Rochas (
Produkt z.Zt. ausverkauft). Its fine silk, shimmering colour and decorative drape make you look like a beautiful ballerina spinning in her pointe shoes. In case youd rather pass on wearing pointe shoes you can easily also combine the seductive dress with girly
Valentino ballerinas (
Produkt z.Zt. ausverkauft). Their satin and leather-look in combination with the typical Valentino bow makes them look very outstanding. Plus, wearing them, you wont need to do ballet to feel like walking on clouds. Probably the most comfortable pair of flats youll ever wear!

Also ready for the (ballet-) stage is the rose gold pleated dress, again by
Halston Heritage, but this time in maximal length (
Produkt z.Zt. ausverkauft). Its stylish flapper optic and elegant colour make it more suitable for evening events especially when worn with jewellery. Ballet colours like white, greige and especially rose look awesome when worn on tanned skin. However, those who havent had the pleasure of soaking up too much sun so far will look even more like ballerinas. Fashionable paleness is a generally accepted alternative to tanned toasties, especially since ballet-fashions rebirth. So whatever sun-level your schedule allows, youll be perfect with this trend.
The perfect match for every ballerina outfit is a
Valentino bag with a typically big bow (
Produkt z.Zt. ausverkauft).
It is made of leather, simple in its design but absolutely eye-catching. Goes perfectly with the above mentioned Valentino ballerinas but also good to mix with modest daytime outfits to put the focus on a very classic piece of fashion.
Last but not least, a cocktail dress that itself reminds us of the tip of a ballet pointe shoe thanks to colour and wrap drape (
hier direkt zum Produkt). Pure elegance combined with a touch of sexiness makes this dress perfect for slightly formal events. It is flattering your silhouette due to its classic knee length, figure-hugging cut and strapless bodice-top. Dress up, show up and impress! But lets hope people wont actually expect you to show them a double pirouette.
