Karl Anderson on Long Island in 1959, in his early years. His mother is a former Revlon model who introduced him to the life of the American Upper Class. At the age of nineteen he moved to New York in order to study fashion at the Fashion Institute of Technology and to proceed his career in the world of fashion. At the same time he started working as a designer and sales manager at the New Yorker premium boutique "Lothars". He loved this job so much that he abandoned his studies in order to work at Lothars full-time. In 1981 he founded
Michael Kors (Kors is the name of his stepfather) which was sold at Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue already in the same year. He had a clear mission: to bring the vision of jet set and a luxurious lifestyle to all over the world. Michael Kors is never chasing after the state-of-the-art trends.
